Beauty Guide: Sparkle & Shine This Christmas Time - Guest Post By Brigitte Evans

Christmas is approaching and you know what that means: family reunions, the joy of giving and the season to be jolly. Yeah, all that too, but most importantly, it’s the beginning of the most awesome party season of the year! But how can you prepare to look marvelous in such a short period? It’s easy, all it takes are some beauty treatments and the right makeup tricks. So, here is my Christmas gift for you: a foolproof guide on how to sparkle and shine this holiday season.

Zap the skin pigmentation

Have you started noticing pesky skin pigmentation? It’s one of the most annoying signs of aging and the bad influence of the sun on our skin. These chilly winter days are the perfect time to get a Fraxel treatment, which is actually a laser resurfacing procedure that leaves your skin fresh, but also (in the first period after the treatment) more susceptible to sun damage. A few weeks after Fraxel, however, you can undergo IPL treatment to reduce the redness that can happen as a result.

Do a chemical peel

There are various types of chemical peels that address various skin issues, including acne and aging. Just as Fraxel, these can leave your skin more sensitive and weak for some time, so it will be best to stay out of sight for a couple of weeks after the peel. However, the peeling of the outer layer of your skin will allow it to absorb skincare products much more efficiently and prepare it to be soft and glowing right in time for the Christmas party.

Prepare your smile

There is no better makeup than a sincere and beautiful smile, which will be your best asset on holiday photos. That’s why it’s become a habit of mine to visit my reliable cosmetic dentist in Sydney before every major event in my life, and see if I need to have teeth whitening or some other procedure that will help me look my best.

Great hair, don’t care

Summer can be merciless to our hair. It dries it out and it makes it much paler than we would like. Hair Botox and Brazilian keratin are both amazing treatments that can aid the recovery of your hair. You can also get highlights, balayage, sombre or ombre correction.

Holiday manicure

Gorgeous nails are also a way of making a statement, and what you are trying to state this Christmas is that you are ready to party – big time. After a nourishing nail treatment, you should opt for an enduring (humid weather and gloves can easily ruin your manicure) gel nail polish in metallic shades. Glitter is optional, but welcome.

Time for glitter

You know that bold glitter lipstick you wanted to try out one day? Well, good news, Christmas is exactly the time when you are supposed to be wearing glitter. If the lip sparkle is too much for you, you can sport that shine on and around your eyes instead, combined with a smudged black liner.

All eyes on your eyes

There are other ways to make your eyes the center of the evening besides applying glitter. Smoky eye is the most classic evening eye makeup, but you can upgrade it by using the combination of sultry deep red instead of black, and slightly sparkling grey instead of ordinary grey.

Say it with your hairstyle

If you have treated your hair with a nourishing treatment weeks or days before Christmas, you won’t have any problems in sporting a phenomenal hairdo. Some of the trendiest looks to try out for a Christmas party are old Hollywood waves, a ribbon tail, half-up, straight blow-dry, curly ponytail and an elegant up-do. You can even use some glittery hair accessories!
Christmas party season is the time to be bold with your makeup and hairstyle. However, a trendy look won’t matter a thing if your skin, hair and, of course, smile are not tended to previously. So, follow these tips and be ready to shine.
