Bring Back Your Best Smile with Veneer Dental Treatments

It makes sense that we call the thin coverings which disguise unsightly teeth in dentistry veneers because they are making something look better than it is. It is the same with furniture when a dining table with a veneer can be made to look like a solid table and something of quality. It seems that dentists and furniture manufacturers are both masters of disguise.

When a mouth has just aged too much to look good, or there has been just too many cases of damage to teeth, it makes sense to have a full set of veneers fitted. Then the whole mouth can look brand new again. There will be so many compliments made once the treatment is completed, you will have run out of “thank yous” and just have to say “thanks”.

For some more information on veneers, stay with this article.

The Pros of Veneers

Many people who look to improve the appearance of their teeth will opt for veneers because they are a minimally invasive treatment.

Veneers are known to eliminate the sensitivity of teeth. This is because they function as a shield that will protect teeth from the stimulating factors that will cause sensitivity. This sensitivity can be a reason why people will have veneers, apart from improving appearance.

Teeth are strengthened by veneers when they have worn or broken enamel. It can be considered something of a repair as well as a cosmetic solution.

Porcelain veneers are stain-resistant. Therefore, many will opt for veneers in the first place.

Dental composite is easier and faster to place than other materials used for dental veneers. This is because it requires less enamel alteration.

The Process of fitting

To fit veneers, a dentist will remove a small amount of enamel from the front of the tooth. This is so that the veneer will fit well. You want it to fit smoothly over the tooth so that a natural appearance is possible. If necessary, dental anaesthetics will be used so that a patient is comfortable.

What Veneers Will Fix

Veneers will cover up chipped, stained, cracked, or worn teeth. Also, ones that are oddly shaped or misaligned. Where people have gaps between their teeth, this can be rectified visually by veneers too.

Variations of Veneers

Two types of veneers exist. The ones that require prep and the others that do not. Traditional veneers require more removal of enamel before fitting because they are thicker. The no-prep alternative is, instead, ultra-thin and will therefore require minimal preparation to fit. It is worth discussing the differences with your dentist over the pros and cons, but the thin ones would seem preferable.

Veneers also come in varied materials, from composite to porcelain. The porcelain option is the deluxe veneer. It will look more natural and last longer. It can depend on an individual’s budget which one is chosen. It is cost-effective and convenient to have it last longer. It would make a nice present for a loved one.

Apart from bringing back your smile, veneers will have the advantage of improving your teeth in lots of ways. They can also strengthen them and protect them from sensitivity. The number one reason, though, why people have veneers fitted is to improve the appearance of their teeth and restore the smile that they used to have. It is what endears people to us.

A nice smile is so important when it comes to photographs taken on family occasions. They will be viewed for many years to come and by many relatives and friends, so you will want to look your best in them. A dentist can help you to achieve that. Everything starts with a smile and then the rest will be up to you in terms of choice of attire. Many would-be brides will arrange to have their teeth veneered before the wedding ceremony will take place. Those struggling with dating success will often have veneers fitted for the difference they can make.

3 Top Tips For Healthy Summer Skin

While it’s sometimes tempting to hide away inside, especially on a bad day, the benefits of spending some time outside can’t be overstated. Not only is it good for your mental and emotional wellbeing, going outside generally involves some form of exercise. A gentle walk is far healthier than curling up on the couch.

Recently, there has been a great deal of information about the risks and benefits of sunlight exposure to the skin. A large amount of UV light exposure, which is the light from the sun, has been proven to increase the risk of skin cancer and is attributed to premature aging. However, the sun is also the primary way that people produce vitamin D and some studies suggest that sunlight may be better for people than first thought.

Bearing this in mind, how can you benefit from the great outdoors, while making sure that your skin stays as healthy as possible?

  1. Moisturize Often

Spending a lot of time outside can be great for your health, but harsh on your skin. This may be because of exposure to the sun, wind, or even the salty water of the sea if you’re so inclined. However, there is one thing that you can do year-round to keep your skin as soft and supple as possible.

Moisturize once or twice a day, or at least as often as possible. Everyone has different skin types, of course, meaning that some people would benefit from moisturizing more often than others. If nothing else, try to regularly moisturize your face and hands, as they are most exposed to the outside world.

  1. Wear Sunscreen

While UV light does have some health benefits, if you’re going to spend a long time in the sun, you should still wear some kind of protection. This is obviously important if you’re prone to sunburn, but even those who burn more slowly would benefit from making sure that they don’t get too much exposure to the sun.

Some foundations and moisturizers have an SPF rating, meaning that they provide a measure of protection from sunlight. Mineral-based sunscreens, such as those produced by Colorscience, have a rating of SPF 50. They’re also useful to people who are allergic to chemical-based sunscreens, as they work by physically blocking the UV light from your skin.

If you wear sunscreen, you should make sure that you get enough vitamin D via other means. If you’d rather get it from the sun, try to wear sunscreen on your face and hands, as they are the areas most likely to prematurely age due to sun exposure.

  1. Keep Hydrated

Last but certainly not least, you should make sure that you drink plenty of water. Hydration is vital to general health, but it also benefits your skin. Your skin is largely made up of water, so it’s logical to assume that ensuring that it has enough of a water intake certainly can’t hurt.

This is definitely true in summer, which is when we’re more likely to get dehydrated. Too much water can be dangerous, but about 8-10 cups should keep you hydrated and may help your skin.

Things That You Can Do with Your Hair

Experimenting with your hair is a way of completely changing your appearance. You can style it and colour it and feel like a completely different person. You can be a brunette one day, a blonde the next, and go pink the week after. This article will explore a few things that we can do to have our hair looking and feeling special, whatever the occasion. If you are looking for hair products to achieve that, then online is an excellent place to compare the different choices available.

Shampooing

All hair styling starts with using a good shampoo. These can include conditioners, moisturisers, and oils. The combination of these products either together or individually will ensure that your hair remains moist and does not dry out, resulting in broken or split ends that create an undesirable look.

Regular shampoos are designed for those with no specific hair requirements. Greasier hair will require you to shampoo more often. In this instance, the everyday shampoo that you will need to use will be a milder cleanser that contains fewer surfactants than regular shampoo does.

A clarifying shampoo will deep clean to remove build-up in the hair and on the scalp from the extended use of styling products, silicones, and conditioners. If you are prone to breakages of the hair, then anti-breakage shampoos are available which are specially formulated for longer or damaged hair.

A dry shampoo will absorb hair oils for a different kind of look. Alternatively, to add moisture to the hair for a shiny look, avoiding breakages from brittle strands that ultimately lead to dandruff, a moisturising shampoo is excellent. If you want to focus more on the scalp rather than the hair, then you have the option of purchasing a purifying shampoo.

Volumizing shampoos are formulated to add body to hair. For curly hair, which is normally drier and frizzier than other types of hair, then there are shampoos available that contain super hydrating ingredients, which give hair a smoother, shinier look.

Colour

Leading on from the section above, you can purchase shampoos that are specifically designed for colour-treated hair. This is because then you are most likely to be dealing with locks that are dry, lack moisture, and that are fading in colour.

When choosing from a hair colour chart, it is good to choose a colour that will neutralise your undertone. This means that if you have a cool tone, you should consider a warm-toned shade of hair. Someone who is both warm and cool-toned will look great with any hair colour.

Another consideration is that you will only look different if you choose a colour that is a complete contrast to your natural hair colour. Sometimes, surprisingly, your natural colour may not be the one that seems to suit you the best. It is a case of experimenting.

Style

Hairstyles that are considered to make you look younger include shoulder-length cuts, bobs, pixie cuts, bangs, longer layers with highlights, braids, or going formal. A style that looks like you have just woken up can also create a young effect. These are all styles you can achieve yourself with a good mirror.

Some jobs require hair to be tied up, such as those connected with catering, so that may dictate your work style for you. If you have the opportunity, then you can wear your hair down and long.

For a tip, by air drying your hair, you prevent the effects heat damage can cause. Air drying helps your hair to look smoother and better hydrated. Heating your hair up will expand the cuticles and agitate the outer layer of hair. For an article on hairdryers, you might find the linked article of interest.

So, to summarise, there are lots of ways of making your hair look great, from how you shampoo it, to what colour you decide on, to how it is styled. It is nice to vary your hair between the style you work with and that which you party in.

Understanding Fat Freezing and how it can help you

You may well have heard or read about fat freezing, the treatment that many celebrities are believed to have had that helps them achieve the looks we see on the front page of magazines and on social media. But what exactly is it? How does it work? And how can it help you?

What is fat freezing?

Fat freezing, also known as cryolipolysis, with leading brand being CoolSculpting, is a non-surgical procedure where fat is frozen to the point where it crystalises. These fat cells are then naturally removed from your body thanks to your lymphatic system. The treatment started after scientists discovered that fat cells were particularly sensitive to cold temperatures when applied in a controlled manner.

During the treatment, suction cups are placed on target areas to secure the skin and fat before the temperature is lowered. Because fat freezing is non-invasive, it is often viewed as an alternative to liposuction. A treatment session can last up to an hour and depending on the size of the area being treated, some people will require more sessions than others.

How can it help you?

There are several key benefits to fat freezing. Firstly, as the targeted fat cells are destroyed and removed from your body, they cannot return. Furthermore, as mentioned above, fat freezing is a non-surgical treatment, which means there is no risk of scarring or the long recovery times you can find after a surgery. This allows you to continue with your life as normal after a treatment session.

Another critical aspect of fat freezing which can help different people is how adaptable the treatment is. Everyone’s body is different, and we all have areas of fat we may wish weren’t there, but they aren’t all in the same place for everyone. Fat freezing can be carried out on various areas of your body, depending on your needs. Some people may choose to have the treatment focus on their thighs so they can fit into clothes more comfortably, while others may focus on smaller and more visible areas such as their chin or jawline.

The results from a fat freezing treatment session are seen over several weeks rather than instantly, which provides a more natural change in appearance. Also, despite the name and what some may think, the treatment is not a painful process. This makes it easy to sit through, and you can focus on other things such as reading a book or watching some Netflix.

What you should keep in mind

As with any beauty treatment, there are things you should keep in mind before signing up for a session. Tania Zahoor Rashid is one of the founders of Aesthetics Lab who offer fat freezing in London at their award-winning clinic. She kindly spoke with us about what people interested in fat freezing should keep in mind about the treatment. Firstly, the misconception that it is a weight-loss treatment. “On some occasions, we do have to explain to clients that fat freezing and weight loss are two different things. They don’t quite understand how you can lose fat cells but not weight” Tania said. This is important to remember as if you’re hoping that fat freezing will be the answer to your weight loss goals, you may be disappointed.

Another point to keep in mind is that not all fat freezing treatments offered by clinics are the same. It’s essential to do your research before having a treatment session at a clinic, as they may not be using the most up to date fat freezing machines. It’s also important to understand that if a clinic is offering the treatment at a lower price than others, that does not mean it’s just a good deal and that you’re going to get the same results. Tania told us that it’s a “common misconception that all fat freezing devices are equal and that they can have a procedure done cheaper with a different device and get the same results.”

Fat freezing can offer excellent results, and it is becoming more popular, which means it can be more accessible to you. Hopefully, the information above gives you a better understanding of the treatment, but if you have any other questions, any clinic offering the treatment should be able to answer them. Thanks to Tania from Aesthetics Lab for her input with this!

New Year, New You - Transform Your Smile With Cosmetic Dentistry

Is Cosmetic Dentistry Something You Have Considered?

Today’s post is about an aspect of cosmetic surgery which I feel is one of the most worthwhile. Cosmetic Dentistry is one of the leading lights of the cosmetics industry, it is a business worth over $23 billion in 2018 and still growing.  I thought I'd detail a few of the treatments available across the board for anyone who might be interested in having some work done on their teeth.

We all know that lacking a healthy set of teeth can be a real source of anxiety and can stimulate a complete lack of self confidence, such is the prominence of our smile. Having the confidence to smile freely could be what you have always dreamed about but have never got around to doing. Well, here’s a few of the most popular treatments which are available, just in case you are still thinking about it but would like to know more.

And before we go further, do not make the cardinal sin of making your smile so bright brilliant white that it can be seen from distance in the night. Go for a shade of white which looks. clean, fresh and natural, but not cartoonish. Go to a well respected and established dentist, check out reviews online, make the most of an online search. Check out the competition and choose someone you feel is going to be able to deliver you the results you desire.

For anyone around the panhandle of the USA, there are brilliant cosmetic dentists who have been carrying out cosmetic dentistry for decades.  It is important to remember that the best cosmetic dentists will fully explain why a certain procedure is needed, they won’t just simply say ‘yes’, to your demands if they do not feel the procedure is necessary.

Teeth Bleaching

In general, cosmetic dentistry is one of the least invasive types of cosmetic work someone can have done when compared to other more severe and obvious surgeries around the human anatomy. Teeth bleaching is one of the most common noninvasive procedures in cosmetic dentistry as it is a fairly quick and simple way of improving one’s smile. For those who might be nervous of the dentist’s chair (as many are), then this can be a good starting point in order to dip your toe in the waters of cosmetic dentistry.

Teeth Whitening

Again a great option for the newbie, or for those who are happy with their teeth generally but would just like to improve their colouration and appearance. Teeth whitening is another non invasive alternative although it can be a little more expensive than the comparatively cheaper teeth bleaching procedures.

Porcelain/Dental Veneers

Veneers have been the gold standard in the field of cosmetic dentistry for decades. A veneer is a thin porcelain jacket which fits on the facial surface of the tooth. This procedure is a little more invasive as part of the enamel of your teeth is filed away gently, and then a cast is taken and while you wait for the permanent veneers to be made, you will be issued a set of temporary ones in the meantime. Veneers are an excellent option particularly for those who may have such dark staining that ordinary teeth whitening and bleaching doesn’t remove. If you suffer from having cracked or badly damaged front teeth then veneers can be an excellent solution.

There are many other treatments available from bonding to braces. Just be sure to do plenty of research on your own before taking the step and as recommended earlier, if nervous about the procedures, go for a simply and relatively quick and easy bleaching session first.
