When it comes to parties, there are few more important than a baby shower. This makes the responsibility of planning such an event pretty huge. Of course, you could ask for the mother-to-be’s input, but if you want to keep things a surprise, then you can be left feeling a little overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. To keep you calm and ensure the event is a success, read the steps below.

1. Get Some Help
You may want to do everything on your own, but if you’re struggling to manage your time, or just can’t afford to pay for everything yourself, then it makes sense to get some friends to help you out. Just make sure to keep the number of helpers to a minimum, or arguments and conflicts could erupt.

2. Pick A Theme
Baby showers don’t necessarily need a theme, but having one often makes it easier to decide games, food, drinks, invitations, and gifts. Your theme can be pretty much anything, from a garden party, to fairy tales, to a slumber party. Just make sure that it’s something that the mother is going to enjoy. With regards to gifts, try to buy items that will come in useful such as a nursing pillow, a breast pump or burp cloths. You can read many breast pump reviews on the net and if you're really struggling for gift ideas, why not ask the mum-to-be for hints?

3. Choose A Location
Hosting the baby shower at your house might be the easiest option, but it isn’t always the best, so you may want to think outside of the box when it comes to the location of the shower. If your home isn’t suitable, consider local spas, bars, ballrooms, and restaurants.

4. Send Out Invitations
When you send out the invitations, it’s essential that you provide as much information as possible, including the theme, the location, the time and date, and whether or not they should bring a gift. If the shower is a secret, this should also be clear on the invitation. You should also provide your contact details so that they can ask you any questions or let you know any allergies.

5. Think Food And Drink
When you’re planning the food and drink, it’s important to cater to the mother and the other guests. This means that you have to offer drinks the mother likes and come up with a prosecco cocktail idea or two for everyone else. If there are any foods the mother is craving, make sure that these are on offer, and, of course, have plenty of water available.

6. Sort Party Favours
It’s always nice to give guests a little something from mother and bump just to say thank you. There is no need to go over the top with this idea luckily; Something as simple as a note and a few cookies is often enough to show that you and the mother cares.

7. Plan Some Games
You can’t have a baby shower without any baby shower games, so make sure you get your thinking cap on and come up with some great ones. If you can, think of ones that match the theme of the shower, and make sure that there are games that everyone can take part in.

Planning a baby shower is a big responsibility, but, hopefully, with this advice, you’ll be able to breathe a little easier while doing it.
